VoiceThread Applications: Hints from Our Participants

2.24.2010

  1. Sharing things with family. This can beat the heck out of Picasa or Shutterfly.
  2. Students studying the Holocaust being able to hear--really hear--Holocaust survivors.
  3. Showing US students the faces and the voices and the environments of other places--particularly, in this application, from Third World countries.
  4. How might this work to help students comment on each others' papers? Audio critique might work better than text.
  5. VoiceThreads can be embedded (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, Moodle).
  6. A way to add text to YouTube videos, wikis, other platforms or "found" objects.
  7. Prewriting tool: group brainstorm.
  8. Textual intervention: alternate ways of interpreting a narrative, for instance.
  9. A "live" or "more live" family history or story.
  10. An interactive family album.
  11. Scan pictures from students' stories; add authors' voices "speaking" their stories. Video books?
  12. Pictures from a field trip can provide the platform for students adding their comments for family artifacts or classroom collections.
  13. Planning family reunions: leading up to and capturing the aftermath of these events.
